XYZ at the Victorian Architecture Awards
XYZ Workshop made a tiny appearance at the recent 2013 Victoria Architecture Awards.
We helped our client Kath Clarke come up with an ArtDeco inspired accessory, which was the theme for this year’s awards dinner, held at the Peninsula Hotel in the Docklands.
The design of the piece while seeking to embellish, via its gold colour, was inspired by the symmetric, rectilinear and strong geometric profiles of a multitude of Art Deco buildings around Melbourne. The accessory piece aptly embraced 3D-printing technology, a significant attribute of Art Deco styles that came about as a product of rapid industrialisation.
It was a good test to show how accessible customisation was facilitated by 3D printing in a short turnaround time.
